No problem. I am most impressed with your work. I notice you're using a Nikon D90. How do you find it? I'm considering getting one and having a play :) It's been many years since I did any real photography, I went through a teenage phase but once my career took off I didn't have time anymore, so at 43 I'm considering giving it another try, albeit going digital rather than film. Maybe once I get my confidence level up I might post some stuff on here, but for now I'm just browsing :)

Thank you very much! Yes I am, I love it, I would recommend it to anyone, it's such good quality and not too difficult to use, although I have still much to learn about it and photography itself it's been really useful!

Oh go on, stick some up, everyone is pretty supportive here no matter what you put up, you get the odd nasty one but it's pretty rare here :)

What career do you have then? Must be very interesting to drop photography for!

Ahhh, yes, career! Well when I left school we had something called YTS [youth training scheme] and I was always interested in electronics, especially consumer electronics. The VCR was a relatively new phenomenon and I wanted to learn about these things amongst others and so began my journey into the world of TV, video and radio repair and associated electronics. I worked initially for Visionhire, then Granada and Radio Rentals, names you may never have heard of, employed as an engineer, but in 1989 I started my own business which went very well and has given me a relatively comfortable lifestyle. But around the late 90's consumer electronics started to get cheaper and cheaper, the VCR could be got from places like Tesco for around £40 and it killed the repair trade and most shops and businesses closed down, most things nowadays are disposable rather that economically viable to be repaired. So with reluctance I took the decision to close the business whilst I was ahead financially, and walked straight into a job with National Express as a bus driver in the Midlands which I have been doing for the last six years. As you can imagine, this was quite a departure from the technical world of electronics, but one thing I did gain out of it was I have a lot more time on my hands than I had whilst running a business. So I need something to occupy my mind and one day my partner suggested I get back into photography again, and so here I am :)

So I'll put some pics up when I have them, after I have got a decent camera. I suppose I could scan some of my very old photo's..... but perhaps that's not such a good idea! The D90 is shortlisted, but I may go for a second hand one to begin with, they can be had from Ebay pretty cheaply and then when I'm more comfortable and want the advantages of a more upmarket camera then I would invest in one. I have a friend who has a D60, so I might ask him if I could borrow it and have a play :)

But yes, from what I see of your pictures they are super, I think the Urban Princess photographs are excellent. I take it you've probably edited these a little on the computer? That is something else I will have to get used to.....

But thanks for the reply, it's always nice to hear words of encouragement :) Keep up the good work.

Hey, sorry for the long time to reply, I am on holiday in France at the moment with my grandparents who have limited internet!

Yes the Urban Princess photographs are slightly edited, but not too much, I like to keep the photo as natural as possible, well I do now anways, I went through a bit of an editing phase where everything would be so heavily edited, it's funny looking at them now though, I cringe at them sometimes!

You're welcome anyway, I'll add you to my deviantWatch and look forward to your first deviations!!
